Your Journey of Service
Thank you for saying YES to serve.
Volunteering with Taita Inti is more than helping with practical tasks. Your presence contributes to creating a safe, supportive and well-organized environment where participants can fully focus on their process.
This page explains the commitment, responsibilities and benefits that come with joining our team as a volunteer.

THE FOUR PHASES OF YOUR JOURNEY
1. The Commitment
Understanding our mutual agreement and what is expected from both you and Taita Inti.
2. Setting the Stage
Arriving on time, connecting with the team and helping us prepare the retreat space before participants arrive.
3. Holding the Space
Being present, attentive and available throughout the retreat, particularly during ceremonies.
4. Closing the Circle
Supporting the final clean-up and remaining with the team until the retreat has been fully completed.
Together, we create a safe, respectful and supportive container for everyone.

HONORING THE FULL COMMITMENT
The volunteer role is a responsibility we rely upon for the successful operation of every retreat.
Your volunteer benefit is earned by honoring two essential commitments:
1. ARRIVAL
Volunteers should ideally arrive one day before the retreat begins so there is enough time for preparation, team alignment and a walkthrough of responsibilities. Otherwise the on the first day of the retreat, no later than 2:00 PM.
2. REMAIN UNTIL THE VERY END
Volunteers commit to remaining until the retreat has completely finished, including the final clean-up after all participants have departed.
Failure to meet either of these commitments may result in the loss of the volunteer benefit.
Late cancellations or failure to honor an agreed volunteer commitment may also affect future invitations to volunteer with Taita Inti.

SETTING THE STAGE
Your Arrival & Preparing the Space
The time before participants arrive is an important part of your volunteer experience.
It allows us to:
- Settle into the space and connect as a team.
- Receive clear instructions and understand individual responsibilities.
- Prepare the retreat areas together.
- Make sure everything participants will need is ready.
- Create a calm, welcoming and well-organized environment before the retreat begins.
Your early arrival and presence are a valuable contribution to the whole community.
PRACTICAL EXPECTATIONS
Transportation
If you have access to a car during the retreat, please let us know in advance.
Having volunteers with transportation can be extremely helpful with retreat logistics, supplies and other practical needs.
Punctuality
Please be on time for every scheduled responsibility.
Every volunteer has an important role, and the smooth running of the retreat depends on everyone fulfilling their responsibilities at the agreed time.
For example, if you are assisting during a Tobacco Ceremony, please be prepared before the ceremony begins and make sure everything required is ready.
If you are responsible for the kitchen, meals should be prepared and served according to the retreat schedule.
Your reliability helps create a safe and harmonious environment for everyone.

HOLDING THE SPACE
Ceremony Responsibilities
During ceremonies, volunteers serve primarily as guardians of the space.
Volunteers do NOT drink plant medicine while volunteering during ceremonies.
Our experience has taught us that when volunteers participate in their own medicine process, it can become difficult for them to remain fully present and available for participants.
Your complimentary retreat is offered separately in recognition of your service.
While volunteering, your primary responsibility is supporting the safety and wellbeing of participants and assisting the healing team.
During ceremonies, volunteers are expected to:
- Remain awake, attentive and present.
- Observe whether any participant requires assistance.
- Support the shamans and healing team whenever requested.
- Notice immediately if someone leaves the ceremony space.
- Be aware of where participants are whenever possible.
- Inform the healing team immediately if an emergency or concern arises.

HEALING BOUNDARIES
Volunteers are not permitted to perform healing work on participants unless they have received explicit permission from the lead shamans or Taita Inti healing team.
This includes:
Energy work · Physical healing · Spiritual interventions · Plant remedies · Personal ceremonies
Our healing team is responsible for determining what kind of support each participant requires.
If you believe someone needs assistance, please notify a member of the healing team rather than intervening independently.
Respecting these boundaries protects both the integrity of the space and the safety of our participants.

YOUR VOLUNTEER BENEFIT
After successfully completing your volunteer commitment, you receive:
ONE COMPLIMENTARY RETREAT
You may attend one Taita Inti retreat free of charge, equivalent to the type of retreat where you volunteered.
